Danville, IL — Former Illinois State Senator and gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey, along with his running mate Aaron Del Mar, will make a campaign stop in Danville this week as part of a five-day statewide campaign bus tour ahead of the March 17 primary election.
The candidates will partake in a public meet-and-greet event on Friday, January 23, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the David S. Palmer Arena Civic Center conference room. The event is open to the public.
The Danville stop is coordinated and hosted in part by Jakob Dazey, a Danville businessman and resident whose involvement reflects an effort to facilitate civic engagement by providing local voters with opportunities to hear directly from candidates seeking public office. The goal of hosting such events is to allow community members to better understand candidates ’positions on issues of importance and to encourage informed participation in the electoral process.
Dazey believes that it is important to give the residents of Danville and Vermilion County all the information that is available in their own back yard. It is not often state candidates travel to this area, he wants the people’s voices and questions heard by everyone.
The Danville event is one of several campaign stops being held across Illinois as candidates engage with voters ahead of the upcoming primary election
