DANVILLE — A local credit union official announced efforts last year to bring tiny-home communities to Vermilion County to help address homelessness and financial stability.
Fast forward about nine months, and Hope Garrett, CEO of Education Personnel Federal Credit Union, has an update of how she’s progressing.
“Well, the latest update is that our Articles of Incorporation were approved by the state of Illinois, meaning our foundation finally officially “exists,” according to Garrett.
It is named the Garrett-Osborne Sustainable Community Foundation (aka the GO Foundation and includes her maiden name of Osborne).
The entity will own and manage the Tiny Homes to be built in Vermilion County.
They’re now working on federal filing for an Employer Identification Number and nonprofit status so they can start accepting donations and applying for the grants that will fund the building process.
