Pixels & Pages: Winter Reading Challenge! From January 5 to February 16, log your reading in the Beanstack app or at danvillepubliclibrary.beanstack.org to unlock prizes for all ages. Make this winter unforgettable. Game On. Happy Reading! *Final Days!*
Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6. 2026 Hoopla Reading Challenge: Join Hoopla’s year-long challenge! Each month, explore a new curated collection of books, audiobooks, and comics on Hoopla, then pick one (or more!) to enjoy. February 16: Children’s Wonder Garden Club. Gardening event for children and families. This program is made possible through a partnership with the University of Illinois Extension Office. This month, we will be making seed packet bouquets! 4:30 PM in the Program Room.
February 17: Teen Crafternoons. Tuesdays = your creative time. Hang out and make cool stuff. No sign-up, no stress. Just show up and create something awesome! This week: Air-Dry Clay – shape, sculpt, and bring your ideas to life.While supplies last. 3:30 – 4:30 PM in the 2nd Floor Teen Space. Ages 13 – 19.
February 17: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week:BINGO! Come play Bingo and win prizes. 5:00 PM in the Program Room. Ages 8-12.
February 17:Vermilion County Master Gardeners. Join Vermilion County Master Gardeners for a seminar at Danville Public Library. This month: Seed Starting with Pat Sollars and Randy Edwards. 6:00 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room. Call 217-442-8615 for more information.
February 17: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under – Tuesdays at 10:00 AM in the Program Room.
February 18: Teen Writing Club. Come write, chill, and connect. No pressure – just good vibes, cool ideas, and a space to be creative. Journals and pens will be provided for our teen writers, along with writing prompts and snacks to fuel your mind. Every Wednesday, 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm in the 2nd Floor Teen Space.
February 21: Bilingual Family Fun! Join Cecilia Pérez and her family for Bilingual Family Fun, a welcoming monthly program for all ages. This month’s topic: Cumbia! – come ready to learn, laugh, and experience culture together. Families may also have the chance to enjoy traditional snacks while supplies last. Únete a Cecilia Pérez y su familia en Bilingual Family Fun, un programa mensual acogedor para todas las edades. Tema de este mes: ¡Cumbia! – ven listo para aprender, reír y compartir una experiencia cultural en familia. February 21: Celebrating Unity: Family Craft & Morning Movie. Celebrate unity, courage, and community with us this Black History Month! Join us for a hands-on family unity craft*, followed by a morning movie inspired by the true story of a young girl whose bravery helped break barriers and bring people together. *Craft supplies are limited. 10:00 – 11:45 AM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
February 21: Read with a Therapy Dog. Reading is one of the best therapies out there, and now you can share your love of reading with our friendly therapy dogs! Visit the library to experience the power of reading with a therapy dog! 1:00 PM in the Children’s Department.
February 21: Story Time. Have a great time listening, interacting to stories and making a fun craft! Saturdays at 11:00 AM in the Children’s Department.
Adult/Teen Craft: Stop by the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor for a take & make craft! This month: choose between a Valentine Ceramic or Card! While supplies last.
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture and win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified.
