People v. Keontae Crenshaw 2023-CF-336
On January 30, 2026, Keontae Crenshaw (DOB: 9/9/1998), formerly of Whitestown, Indiana, pleaded guilty to Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, a class X felony, and was sentenced to 14 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. The sentence will be served at 85% and Crenshaw will serve a term of mandatory supervised release from 3 years to natural life, as well as a mandatory lifetime sex offender registration. The plea and sentencing hearing were presided over by Judge Mark S. Goodwin.
The People presented evidence that on April 3, 2023, after being confronted by the victim’s father, Keontae Crenshaw contacted the Danville Police Department and confessed to sexually assaulting the victim in 2017, at a time when the victim was under the age of 13. During a subsequent interview with law enforcement, the victim confirmed that the sexual assault occurred while she was under the age of 13 and that Crenshaw was 17 years of age or older at the time.
State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy said, “I would like to thank the victim for her courage in coming forward. Through her strength, we were able to hold this sexual predator accountable, and remove him from our community. It is my hope that this sentence will provide time for peaceand healing for the victim.” She added, “I would also like to thank the Danville Police Department and the Vermilion County Children’s Advocacy Center for their work and support in this investigation.”
