THE FOLLOWING IS AN INDIVISIBLE VERMILION COUNTY RELEASE
Danville, IL — Indivisible Vermilion County will host a public community event at the corner of Vermilion St. and Main St. in Danville, Illinois, bringing residents together on a day traditionally dedicated to love to highlight a different kind of love — love for our democracy and for the people most impacted by current federal policies.
The gathering is open to all members of the public.
“On a day celebrating and highlighting love, we want to express our love for our democracy and just how imperative it is to protect it during this administration’s reign,” organizers said. “Our community understands that safeguarding democratic values requires vigilance, unity, and a willingness to speak out.”
In addition to uplifting democratic principles, the event will also express solidarity with residents of Minneapolis who are speaking out against actions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.). Community members in Minneapolis have raised concerns about the agency’s conduct, including allegations of unlawful use of force and harm against civilians. Indivisible Vermilion County stands with those calling for accountability and humane treatment of all people.
The event will include opportunities for community members to connect, share concerns, and demonstrate collective commitment to justice, compassion, and democratic participation.
