DANVILLE — The first cannabis consumption lounge in Danville — and second in Vermilion County, preceded by Molly’s Joint in Tilton — is officially opening for business.
Seven Point’s Smoke Lab Lounge, which previously had a one-day trial on Christmas Day followed by a soft opening over the course of several weeks, will have a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. Thursday at the dispensary, 380 Eastgate Drive.
Seven Point CEO Brad Zerman said the lounge name came from him driving by other businesses with lab in their name, such as a coffee lab and stretch lab.
Zerman said he wanted to incorporate the lounge too being like a lab, with Seven Point’s tagline being “come experiment with weed and music.”
The lounge already has hosted some music and comedy acts. There are weekly events: Sundays — Movie Matinees (comedy or music); Mondays — Music Trivia; Tuesdays — Music Bingo; Wednesdays — Vinyl Night; Thursdays — Open Mic; Fridays — Karaoke; and Saturday’s afternoon yoga and live music at night.
Thursday’s grand opening event also will include a vendor pop-up with tastings and a ticketed event that night at 7 for “Smokes & Jokes” with Dre Burns.
