Read Across America: Beanstack Challenge! This March, log your reading minutes and journey through stories from coast to coast. Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6. 2026 Hoopla Reading Challenge: Join Hoopla’s year-long challenge! Each month, explore a new curated collection of books, audiobooks, and comics on Hoopla, then pick one (or more!) to enjoy. March 16: March Madness – Book Bracket! Every Monday in March, swing by our Facebook Pageor stop into the Library to cast your vote as we pit 8 popular books head‑to‑head! Which title will rise to the top? You decide! Bonus: In celebration of Women’s History Month, every featured book is written by a female author. Come join the fun and help crown our 2026 Book Bracket Champion!
March 16: Children’s Wonder Garden Club. Gardening event for children and families. This program is made possible through a partnership with the University of Illinois Extension Office. This month, we will be making rainbow art! 4:30 PM in the Program Room.
March 17: Teen Crafternoons. Tuesdays = your creative time. Hang out and make cool stuff. No sign-up, no stress. Just show up and create something awesome! This week: Air-Dry Clay – shape, sculpt, and bring your ideas to life. 3:30 – 4:30 PM in the 2nd Floor Teen Space. Ages 13 – 19.
March 17: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week:BINGO! Come play Bingo and win prizes. 5:00 PM in the Program Room. Ages 8-12.
March 17: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under – Tuesdays at 10:00 AM in the Program Room.
March 18: Senior Bingo. Seniors, join us for a few rounds of Bingo! Help at Home will be hosting and providing some fun prizes. 50 seats available. Doors open at 12:45 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room. Intended for ages 50+.
March 18: She Persisted Story Time. Characters from She Persisted the Musical Jr present a special story time reading of She Persisted. 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm in the Program Room.
March 18: Teen Writing Club. Come write, chill, and connect. No pressure – just good vibes, cool ideas, and a space to be creative. Journals and pens will be provided for our teen writers, along with writing prompts and snacks to fuel your mind. Every Wednesday, 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm in the 2nd Floor Teen Space.
March 21: Bilingual Family Fun! Join Cecilia Pérez and her family for Bilingual Family Fun, a welcoming monthly program for all ages. This month: Lucky Karaoke! – come ready to learn, laugh, and experience culture together. Families may also have the chance to enjoy traditional snacks while supplies last. Únete a Cecilia Pérez y su familia en Bilingual Family Fun, un programa mensual acogedor para todas las edades. Tema de este mes: Karaoke afortunada – ven listo para aprender, reír y compartir una experiencia cultural en familia. March 21: Story Time. Have a great time listening, interacting to stories and making a fun craft! Saturdays at 11:00 AM in the Children’s Department.
Adult/Teen Craft: Stop by the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor for a take & make craft! Starting March 2, grab a Tiny Canvas Kit! While supplies last.
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture and win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified. Prom Collection Drive: We need YOUR help! We’re accepting Menswear, Dresses, Shoes, Purses, and Jewelry now through March 27. Your generous donations will help make prom dreams come true for students in our community. March 28, donated items will be available free-of-charge for students at our Free Prom Shopping Event!
