Hoopeston, Ill– CRIS Healthy Aging is inviting the public to learn more about navigating Medicare during a seminar organized with the State Health Insurance Program (SHIP). The session will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 23 inside the Hoopeston Public Library, 110 N. 4th St.
SHIP is a free health insurance counseling service supported by the federal government for Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers. The session on March 23 is provided through support from the East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging. Medicare-eligible individuals, their families, and caregivers. Certified SHIP counselors at CRIS Healthy Aging provide free, unbiased assistance with a wide range of Medicare-related topics including:
⦁ Comparing Medicare plans, including Part A, Part B, Part D, and supplemental insurance
⦁ Understanding eligibility and enrollment rules
⦁ Identifying financial assistance programs to reduce out-of-pocket costs
⦁ Helping with appeals for denied claims
⦁ Explaining deductibles, coinsurance, copayments, and premiums
⦁ Offering guidance on long-term care coverage
