RIDGE FARM — When it comes to learning about the history of Ridge Farm, the Heritage House, the Ridge Farm Heritage Society’s museum, is a wealth of knowledge.
One can step back in time and learn more about the local pioneers; flip through student graduate photos from the early 1900s up to when the district consolidated with Georgetown; view vintage diplomas, including Ridge Farm’s first, and sports trophies and other memorabilia from school athletic teams; visit the military and church rooms; and take in business memorabilia, clothing and other artifacts from the past.
The Heritage House at 105 N. State St., along Illinois 1 and across the street from the Carnegie Library, opened in 1994. It’s open by appointment in the warmer months and every Memorial Day weekend.
Society President Karla Woodyard said the nonprofit organization “has remained steadfast in displaying and preserving our local artifacts and memorabilia in our two-story 1857 structure.”
