THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On March 27, 2026, at 8:41 PM, an officer with the Problem-Oriented Policing Unit (POP Unit) observed subjects walking in the roadway and pushing bicycles near the intersection of Harmon Street and Williams Street. The officers got with the subjects and identified one of them as Patrick Shelby, 30, of Danville.
Officers found that Shelby had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Vermilion County.
Officers placed Shelby into custody and located a loaded firearm in Shelby’s waistband. A further search of Shelby’s person uncovered methamphetamine.
Shelby was transported to the Vermilion County Jail, where he was booked on the preliminary charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Methamphetamine Possession, and his outstanding warrant.
The Danville Police Department reminds the public that all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
No other information will be released at this time.
