THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
DANVILLE, IL – The Danville Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday, March 29, 2026.
On April 14, 2026, at approximately 12:00 p.m., members of the Danville Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit conducted a traffic stop and took Curtis S. Butler, 42, of Danville, into custody without incident. Butler was wanted on a Vermilion County warrant for aggravated discharge of a firearm and two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon stemming from the March 29 shooting.
As previously released, on March 29, 2026, at approximately 3:36 a.m., Danville Police responded to the 1600 block of Beechwood Drive for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located a 25-year-old Danville woman who had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. She was transported to a local hospital and treated for a non-life-threatening injury.
The investigation revealed that a large gathering had occurred in the area shortly before the shooting.
The Danville Police Department continues to investigate this incident. No additional information is being released at this time.
