THE FOLLOWING IS A SURVIVOR RESOURCE CENTER RELEASE
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is making its annual appearance at Temple Plaza on Saturday, April 25th. This inspiring community walk raises awareness about gender-based violence and empowers survivors of sexual abuse by having men put on red high heeled shoes to proudly show their support for survivors.
There is an old saying: “You can’t really understand another person’s experience, until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes.” Just as it isn’t easy to walk in high heeled shoes, we know it is also uncomfortable to talk about sexual violence. At this event, men and all community members are encouraged to march wearing women’s high heels. We provide shoes! Each year we have hundreds of men, women and children of all ages join us for this powerful event. Open to individuals or groups of family, friends or coworkers.
