Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6. May 4: May the “Fourth” Be With You! Join us for an All-Day Movie Marathon featuring your favorite rebels, droids, sabers, and sounds! Stop in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room throughout the day to see what’s on screen!
May 5: Teen Crafternoons. Tuesdays = your creative time. Hang out and make cool stuff. No sign-up, no stress. Just show up and create something awesome! This week: Cinco de mayo Diamond Painting – create a masterpiece…piece by piece. While supplies last. 3:30 – 4:30 PM in the 2nd Floor Teen Space. Ages 13 – 19.
May 5: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: 3D Pens. Get your tech on while you learn about 3D Pens. Use software to create your own 3D masterpiece! 5:00 PM in the Program Room. Ages 8-12.
May 5: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under – Tuesdays at 10:00 AM in the Program Room.
May 6: Publishing 101 – Ask an Expert. Curious about how to publish your writing? Learn Publishing Basics from local author M.I.H. McCool, who brings over 20 years of experience in the publishing world! Missed a session or need a refresher? May 6: Teen Writing Club. Come write, chill, and connect. No pressure – just good vibes, cool ideas, and a space to be creative. Journals and pens will be provided for our teen writers, along with writing prompts and snacks to fuel your mind. Every Wednesday, 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm in the 2nd Floor Teen Space.
May 7: Lit Fit with Mandy. Join us Thursdays starting in April for a dance fitness series that’s as fun as your favorite book. All fitness levels welcome. Bring your water bottle and wear clothes that can handle your best moves! 3:00 – 4:00 PM in the Program Room.

Explore how Illinois helped shape comic strip and comic book history in this engaging presentation by historian Dr. Stephen Harrick. From iconic characters like Black Panther and Popeye to the ways comics reflect politics, identity, and culture, this talk reveals surprising connections! 12:30 – 1:30 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
May 9: Health Fair. Gather resources from community organizations and receive health screenings at this free health fair. Aetna will be providing limited food baskets, so show up early! 12 pm-2 pm on the Library Lawn.
May 9: May Mini Con. Join us all day for crafts, coloring pages, and more featuring your favorite comic book heroes! Then enjoy a comic book-themed movie starting at 2:00 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
May 9: Sketching Spider-Man. Join local artist, Katie Weston, for this fun superhero drawing workshop! Each artist will learn to complete their own drawings of Spider-Man in this fun and interactive workshop. Space is limited to 30 artists, so sign-up on our website. 10:00 AM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room. Ages 12 and up!
