The Project Success of Vermilion County Youth Council Peace Ambassadors will be having the third event in their “Voices for Change Series;” 5:30 to 8:30 PM Wednesday, April 29th at the Laura Lee Fellowship House.
Project Success’ Jamie Nightlinger says this event is aimed at youngsters age 16 to 22; and entire families are welcome to attend as well.
AUDIO: So this is created in response to the feedback that we received from our Town Hall and Youth Action Expo; where young people identified the needs for more access to jobs, help with applying for jobs, and managing stress and mental health.
Nightlinger says there will plenty of advice for 16 to 22-year-olds on how to prepare for a job interview; including free haircuts and advice on dressing for success.
AUDIO: People who attend can expect hands-on career support; including resume building; mock interviews. We’re going to have a job application zone; with computers and paper applications, and staff to help students apply for jobs that specifically hire for 16 and up. We’ll also have some jobs that are for the older kids 18 and up as well.
Local employers, DACC Trade Schools, and numerous other entities including military representatives are scheduled to attend. Project Success’ Youth Council Peace Ambassadors are composed of local students; some still in high school, some now attending college. The Laura Lee Fellowship House is at 212 East Williams in Danville.
