DANVILLE — When Rashad Wilson started as general manager at the Golden Nugget Danville last August, he marveled at how clean the then-2-year-old property was compared to other casinos he’d been in around the country.
“It’s new,” he said. “You can actually start to lay your footprint down. The opening team did what they needed to do when they came in. And now we’re more into the operating mode, so making sure that the team members are being taken care of. … Everything is community-focused.”
While the 19,489-square-foot casino ranks No. 16 of 17 in size in Illinois, it’s punching above its weight in revenue. Through the first four months of the year, Golden Nugget’s total adjusted gross receipts (the amount wagered, minus winnings paid out) added up to $14,428,685.39, good for 14th-most statewide.
“It keeps creeping up and creeping up and creeping up, which is a great thing,” Wilson said. “It’s been meeting and exceeding goals as of now.
