DANVILLE — Women’s Care Clinic Executive Director Heather McArty said she firmly believes God has opened a door for the nonprofit ministry to expand by adding a new location across the street from an abortion clinic in the city.
“He wants us to be there,” McArty said.
A local businessman and supporter of the clinic who wants to remain anonymous donated a former psychiatrist’s office at 601 N. Logan Ave., across from the Affirmative Care Solutions abortion clinic that opened last fall.
The abortion clinic has been the target of vandalism and an attempted arson in May 2023 in which a Prophetstown man intentionally crashed a car full of flammable materials and gasoline into the building.
Since it opened, protesters and prayer groups have periodically been standing and holding signs on the sidewalk outside. That includes this Saturday, when the Danville chapter of 40 Days for Life and others will gather for prayer at 9 a.m. near the clinic.
McArty said while 40 Days for Life is separate from Women’s Care Clinic, they share “a deep commitment to protecting and valuing life. We are grateful for their faithful presence and honored to have them serving as intercessors for our community, our clients and the work being done to support women and families.”
