DANVILLE — Following another difficult Father’s Day and the one-year anniversary of his daughter’s murder, Phil Davis said his heart continues to be warmed by working with area youth to inspire them and help curb gun violence.
“I miss her every day,” Davis said of his daughter, Aniyah Davis.
The 18-year-old 2024 Danville High School graduate, who was a talented show choir performer, was fatally shot last June at Danville’s Winter Park.
As his mission for justice and helping build the next generation of leaders moves on, Phil Davis on Monday participated in a Project Success Youth Leadership Conference at the David S. Palmer Arena for youth in seventh grade through high school.
Project Success organizers said the full-day experience was to be packed with leadership development, community leader speakers and powerful conversations.
The conference was followed by a Family Bowling Night. At 6 p.m. Saturday at Danville Area Community College’s Bremer Conference Center, 2000 E. Main St., is the premiere of “Healing Our Streets: Voices of Our Community,” a storytelling project by Project Success Youth Council Peace Ambassadors.
