ABOVE: DANVILLE RESCUE PRESIDENT MICHAEL EWING ADDRESSES DANVILLE CITY COUNCIL
During the “public comment” portion of Tuesday evening’s (July 7th) Danville City Council meeting, Danville Rescue president Michael Ewing came forth and simply stated, “We need some help right now.”
It was last month that the City Council approved a plan and contract to renovate the Danville Rescue location at 213 North Bowman; so that by wintertime it will have full capacity; being able to take in up to 24 homeless males. But Ewing’s point to the Council and the entire community was that they also need help and donations immediately to keep going through the summer. He says that just recently Danville Rescue was threatened with a water shut off. Ewing spoke with CIMG afterwards, saying they’re working on getting grants, but they need a big stop gap of assistance.
AUDIO: In summertime people don’t give as much. So my purpose is to get people to give. I don’t know what else to do. If Michael Ewing being the head of it is the hindrance; I’ll step to the side, for the benefit of the homeless. I don’t know if I rub people the wrong way, or what; but we’ve got to do something where we give more. That’s the only way a non-profit can materialize until we get grants.
You can stop by at 213 North Bowman, or call 432-288-7798.
