Experienced Nurse Educator and Academic Leader Dr. Elaine Hardy Begins New Role
DANVILLE,Ill. – Lakeview College of Nursing is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Elaine Hardy as its new Dean of Nursing. Dr. Hardy’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the College as it continues its more than 130-year tradition of preparing future nurses. An accomplished nurse educator and academic leader, Dr. Hardy brings more than two decades of experience in nursing, higher education, and academic leadership. Throughout her career, she has served in a variety of leadership roles, including nursing faculty member, regional campus director, and Dean of Academic Affairs.
Dr. Hardy’s nursing journey began after working as a laboratory technician in the chemical manufacturing industry. She went on to earn an Associate of Science in Nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Health with a certificate in Nursing Education, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing. Her commitment to lifelong learning has shaped both her personal and professional growth, and she is passionate about encouraging students and colleagues to continually pursue excellence through education.
Recognized for her leadership in nursing education, Dr. Hardy has guided academic program development, accreditation initiatives, curriculum innovation, faculty mentoring, and student success throughout her career. Her extensive accomplishments reflect a deep commitment to educational excellence, innovation, and advancing the nursing profession. She also serves as President of the Black Nurses Association of Central Illinois, where she champions health equity, professional development, and efforts to increase diversity within the nursing workforce.
Lakeview College of Nursing’s commitment to academic excellence, student-centered learning, and community engagement closely aligns with Dr. Hardy’s values as both a nurse educator and leader. She was drawn to Lakeview because of its dedication to fostering an inclusive environment where every individual’s unique strengths, experiences, and perspectives are valued. Dr. Hardy believes this culture of collaboration, belonging, and shared purpose not only enriches the educational experience but also strengthens the nursing profession and the communities it serves.
As she begins her role, Dr. Hardy shared her enthusiasm for joining the Lakeview community and her vision for the future of nursing education.

Nursing has consistently been recognized as the most trusted profession, and I believe we have both the opportunity and responsibility to continue elevating the profession through excellence in education, leadership, scholarship, and service,” said Dr. Hardy. “I look forward to partnering with our faculty, staff, students, alumni, healthcare organizations, and community leaders to prepare compassionate, highly skilled nurses who will improve the health of the communities they serve. Together, we will continue advancing the nursing profession while inspiring the next generation of lifelong learners and leaders.”

As Dean, Dr. Hardy is committed to expanding access to nursing education while ensuring graduates of Lakeview’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program are well prepared to meet the evolving healthcare needs of local communities and those across the nation. Her priorities include building meaningful relationships with faculty, staff, students, alumni, healthcare partners, and community stakeholders while fostering a collaborative and student-centered environment. Through these efforts, she hopes to prepare future nurses who are equipped to lead, serve, and make a lasting impact in the communities they call home.
