THE FOLLOWING IS A CITY OF DANVILLE RELEASE
As families prepare for the upcoming school year, an exciting community event is bringing science, education, and family fun to Downtown Danville.
First Fridays Science in the City returns to Downtown Danville on Friday, August 7th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM., offering a free evening of hands-on STEM activities, live demonstrations, interactive exhibits, and a live performance from the Funkadelics on the Temple Plaza stage!
This event connects children and families with the wonders of science through engaging experiences in ecology, biology, physics, engineering, and more. Featured attractions include a traveling science lab from the University of Illinois, interactive exhibits from community partners, and opportunities for participants to discover how science shapes the world around them.

Participants can design and build parachutes for the egg drop contest! With free parachutebuilding workshops will be held at the Danville Public Library on August 7 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM., giving aspiring young scientists an opportunity to create and
test their designs before the evening competition.
Science in the City celebrates curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning while providing local families with a unique opportunity to explore STEM in a fun and accessible environment.
We invite area media outlets to help share this event with the community and encourage families to join us for an evening of discovery, innovation, entertainment, and community engagement in the heart of Downtown Danville.
