An article in the News-Gazette by Luke Taylor indicates that initial reports from the Illinois State Police did not indicate any serious injuries among 20 Hoopeston Middle School softball players involved in a crash in Ford County in the Gibson City area.
ISP reported that around 8:38 AM Saturday a car traveling on 1000E Road near Gibson City failed to yield, and entered Route 9 in front of a school bus, which struck the car.
One occupant in the car has been pronounced deceased, with three others sustaining injuries. Initial reports did not indicate any of the students were seriously injured, but that they were still taken to area hospitals.
