Harrison Park Golf Course
DANVILLE — It’s taken some time to get Harrison Park Golf Course back to tip-top shape after historic flooding in mid-August.
“It was was definitely the worst we have seen the course in quite a few years,” said A.J. Shannon, manager and golf professional at the course.
Shannon, who has been in his position since February 2024, isn’t sure exactly what year the course off West Voorhees Street last flooded, but said it had been a while.
Last month’s flooding forced the course to close for three days, Aug. 14-17.
When it reopened, it “was still so wet that we couldn’t let carts out right away,” Shannon said. “We only allowed walkers out to start with on the front 9 (holes). The back 9 always holds more water and takes longer to drain than the front.
