FITHIAN — Jesse Johnson won’t win a game for the Oakwood football team this season.
But the Comets don’t win any games this season without the assistance of Johnson.
Especially on the road.
The veteran Oakwood assistant coach is the Comets’ special teams coordinator. He also has the unofficial title of logistical coordinator for all the items the Comets need every time they travel for a road game. Which, this season, has already happened twice and will take place four more times.
“I’ve got a little bit of OCD in me,” Johnson said with a laugh.
Unbeaten and state-ranked Oakwood has already made short trips to Bismarck and Georgetown for road Vermilion Valley Conference games against Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin on Aug. 22 and against Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman last Friday night.
