THE FOLLOWING IS A VERMILION COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT RELEASE
The Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department is urging citizens to be vigilant against a growing wave of phone scams, where perpetrators are impersonating Sheriff’s department member’s to fraudulently obtain personal information and money from unsuspecting individuals.
The Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department would never make contact via the phone and request payment for fines or monies related to criminal matters.
We would also like to remind everyone the State of Illinois has moved to a no cash bond system, which means there is no longer any monetary fines associated with criminal arrest warrants.
