COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Caleb Griffin was a nervous wreck as Ethan Moczulski lined up to kick his walk-off field goal on Saturday.
After the 26-yarder sailed through the uprights to give the Illini a 20-17 win against Maryland, Griffin sought out Moczulski to congratulate him.
“It’s almost more nerve-wracking as a fan when you aren’t in control,” said Griffin, “but it’s awesome.”

Saturday’s finish mimicked the Illini’s most recent trip to SECU Stadium in 2023, when Griffin — a former Danville High star — won it 27-24 with a 43-yarder as time expired.
