This week’s Danville City Council meeting was moved back from Tuesday to Wednesday due to Tuesday’s Election Day. And on Wednesday evening’s agenda is consideration of an updated agreement between the city and the Danville Firefighters Union. The agreement, scheduled to be retroactive to May 1st of 2025, was first approved by Local Firefighters 429 members in December of 2025. But it was voted down by the Danville City Council 7-5 in March of 2026.
Local 429 president Easton Hoskins has told CIMG that since then, an updated agreement was recently approved by union members on Halloween. Now it’s the City Council’s turn again. Both Hoskins and Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr have told CIMG that they are hoping an agreement satisfying all interests is finally passed. This is the final item on the Wednesday City Council meeting agenda; happening after review of both the proposed new city budget and tax levy, as well as after a possible closed session.
