THE FOLLOWING IS A VA ILLIANA HEALTH CARE RELEASE
In celebration of Independence Day, the Danville VA Medical Center is hosting a parade to honor America and salute the sacrifice of all Veterans on July 3, 2024, beginning at 10 a.m.
“This year’s parade continues VA Illiana’s long tradition of celebrating Independence Day by honoring the sacrifice of those who served our country,” said Aaron Cain, chief of VA Illiana’s Center for Development and Civic Engagement. “From the shot heard ‘round the world in 1776 to the present day, Americans have always answered the call to keep America free. We are humbled to salute them and our nation through this parade.”
The parade will wind through the historic Danville VA Medical Center campus and will feature between 100-150 participants from local and regional car clubs, the Danville Fire Department, the Danville Police Honor Guard, and local businesses. David Dixon, a Vietnam Veteran, will serve as this year’s grand marshal.
In-patient Veterans will line the route as the parade makes its way through the grounds of the nation’s eighth-oldest VA location of care. Local Veterans and members of the community are also invited to join the celebration.
