DANVILLE — A sit-down restaurant and the return of a movie theater are included in plans pitched by the new owner of Village Mall.
The city announced on Friday night that Jimmy Virk has acquired two of the three parcels of the 35-acre property and that current tenants — County Market, Ross Dress for Less, Dunham’s, Pet Supplies Plus, Bath and Body Works, JoAnn’s, Citi Trends, Hibbett Sports and Danville Community College Barber School — intend to stay put.
Three parcels were auctioned off in May. The city did not release information regarding the purchase of the third parcel.
“We’ve found someone with a vision for the mall that matches ours and who also has the experience and resources necessary to make it a regional attraction,” Danville Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. said.
The AMC Classic Village Mall 6 theater closed in December 2022.
