It’s all over but the ribbon cutting and the first two events, and then on into the future. The refurbished, field turf Ned Whitesell Field at Danville High School makes its debut Thursday, with ceremonies beginning at 4:15 for the 4:45 debut of the new DHS Girls Flag Football team, as they host Peoria Richwoods. Former DHS athlete Kedzie Griffin will be doing the honorary coin flip, and some Chicago Bears officials will be thanked for providing uniforms for the new Lady Vikings.
District Athletic Director Mark Bacys says he, DHS AD Gary Gritton, and the whole gang have just been finishing up some painting.
AUDIO: We’re all pretty nervous and pretty excited about it. The finishing touches are going on; it’s really just coming down to painting the rails. There will be some maroon rails, and there will be some brown rails; but everything else is good to go.
Coach Marcus Forest and the football team will have their turn Friday at 7 PM, when they host Bloomington.
