This year’s Labor Day Weekend Hoopeston Sweet Corn Festival once again not only provided a great event for the end of summer, but also reminded us of all the great events coming this fall. And again, especially if you were there Sunday, you might have met some volunteers from the Middle Fork Jeep Group at all of the gates. At CIMG, we were introduced to Donald and Marilyn Smith of Oakwood. Donald explains.
AUDIO: The proceeds that we earn from this goes to our Jeep Fest this year, September the 14th at Vermilion County Fairgrounds. And all the proceeds from that goes to the Mission K-9 Warriors for their PTSD service dogs.
(Middle Picture) Donald and Marilyn Smith of Oakwood work the East Gate of the Hoopeston Sweet Corn Festival on Sunday; while also promoting the upcoming Jeep Fest on September 14th, which raises funds for the Mission K-9 Warriors program in Georgetown.
Marilyn says working the Sweet Corn Festival and promoting the Jeep Fest is a wonderful way to spend the day.
AUDIO: We really enjoy this. I mean, it’s something that we’re giving back to our Veterans; which don’t have nearly enough recognition. With this, they not only rescue the Veterans, but they also use rescued dogs whenever possible. So they’re rescuing these dogs, they’re training them for comfort measures, giving them back to our Vets and our first responders; it’s just a win-win situation for everybody.
And by the way, that Jeep Fest on Saturday, September 14th at the Vermilion County Fairgrounds, begins in the morning at 10 AM.
