A special Recovery from Addiction celebration will be put on Saturday afternoon and evening by the STEP Recovery Center and the Vermilion County ROSC (Recovery Oriented System of Care) Council. The STEP Recovery Center’s Wendy Lambert says the musical entertainment will include Danville native Bill Youngblood and the Smokin’ Gorillas. She says Youngblood himself has quite an interesting story.
AUDIO: Moved away, but he wants to come back and play for us. Eclipse is going to be also playing. But we’re going to have a whole bunch of stuff going on that day. People sharing their recovery testimonies, like what their life is now.
The STEP Recovery Center is located at 2500 Georgetown Road in Danville.
Lambert says Saturday’s agenda includes special artwork and poetry about recovery and addiction, along with “balloons to heaven” and a two block recovery memorial walk. The day will end with a candlelight vigil. Lambert says this is for entire families, and to raise awareness.
Saturday’s proceedings at Downtown Danville’s Temple Plaza will run from 2 PM to 8 PM.
