Retired Danville District 118 teacher Myra Greazer celebrated her 103rd birthday on Sunday, September 8th. She went into her birthday with the goal of receiving at least 103 birthday cards, and ended up receiving over 300.
Greazer began her teaching career in a one room school house near Ashmore, IL. That first school was called “College.” In the years after “teaching college” (as she liked to call it), Myra Greazer spent time in Danville District 118 teaching at Grant, Washington, and Northeast Elementary Schools.
While her husband was serving overseas during WWII, Greazer worked at a weapons factory in Hattiesburg, MS. She and her husband moved back to Illinois upon his return.
Since her retirement from teaching, she has been able to travel overseas to Britain, Argentina, Brazil, China, and Japan.
