A groundbreaking ceremony on Friday (September 27th) will mark the beginning of construction for new Sonic and Jimmy Johns restaurants in Danville. Vermilion Advantage says the ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the site at the northwest corner of Vermilion and Fairchild Streets. A portion of the site is where Gulick Pharmacy was previously located.
Owner Patrick Wampler said in May that the restaurants will be opening a little later than expected, probably late this year or early next year.
The new Sonic and Jimmy Johns Sandwich Shop will be separate buildings. A Jimmy Johns located along North Vermilion Street on the city’s north side was closed earlier. And a Jimmy Johns at Gilbert and Fairchild Street will also be closed once the new one opens next to Sonic.
