State Police Detectives say they have concluded their investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred September 16th in Vermillion County Indiana. Vermillion County (Indiana) Sheriff Mike Holtcamp requested that Indiana State Police conduct the investigation.
Vermillion County Sheriff’s Police and Indiana troopers, along with other law enforcement agencies, responded to a business at State Road 163 and State Road 63 upon a report of shots fired. It was approximately 8:45 p.m. on September 16th.
State Police say when officers arrived, 19-year-old Gavin Bodkins of Clinton, Indiana told them he was the person who fired the shots and called 9-1-1. Officers then observed 41-year-old Devin Shelby of Robinson, Illinois who had suffered gunshot wounds. Officers immediately began administering first aid, but Shelby succumbed to his injuries.
Sheriff Holtcamp says the results of the State Police investigation has been provided to Vermillion County Prosecutor Bruce Aukerman who will decide whether any charges will be lodged in the incident.
