PSAs – Upcoming events at Danville Public Library – October 6 – October 12, 2024
Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6.
Diversify Your Reading Challenge: In a reading rut? Expand your reading horizons by completing one or all of our challenges! Finish a challenge to earn a custom poster! This challenge is for teens and adults, ages 13 and up. August 1, 2024 – August 1, 2025
October 8: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: Board Game Night. Play your favorite game with your friends. 4:30 pm in the Rutan Room (Former Bookstore). Ages 8-12.
October 8: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under—Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the Rutan Room (Former Bookstore).
October 9: Rainbow Playgroup. Socialization, play, and STEAM activities for toddlers. Wednesdays 10 am- 11 am. 1st Floor Meeting Room.
October 9: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd-floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
October 9: Team STEAM. Join us for activities designed to help students foster creativity and boost critical thinking and problem-solving skills. 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
October 10: Anything Tech for Teens. Introducing teens to some of the library’s cool technology, including 3D Printing, 3D Pens, Sphero Balls, Cricut, and a Flight Simulator. Thursdays at 4:00 pm in the Teen Zone.
October 10: Tween 3D Pen Class. Get your tech on while you learn about 3D Pens. Use software to create your own 3D masterpiece! For ages 8-12. 4:30 p.m.
October 10: Theatre Thursday. Join us each month for a film showing of popular plays and musicals. This month we will be showing a musical to help you get ready for spooky season. Stop in and enjoy the show! *Titles can only be shared within the library due to licensing. 4:30 PM in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
October 12: Hear It, See It, Make It, Take It: Sensory Story Time. Sensory programs are designed for youth of various ability levels including differently-abled youth—Saturdays at 11 am in the Children’s Department.
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture and win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified. Adult Craft: Stop by the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor for an Inktober Kit take-and-make craft during October!
Teen Craft: Stop by the Teen Zone during October to make your own buttons with the button maker! Teen Zone Hours: Monday-Thursday 3 pm to 7 pm and Saturday 11 am to 4:30 pm.
Weekly Crafts. Drop by for fun crafts in the children’s department. Available Monday through Thursday from 8 am-6:30 pm and Fri-Sat 8 am-4 pm. New craft each week! This week: Fall Acorns and Candy Corn
