DANVILLE — Fastenal is seeking the public’s assistance for donations to help those in need in the North Carolina area dealing with devastating floods from Hurricane Helene.
“Our Fastenal branch in Danville will be shipping items donated by customers and others in our area to our distribution hub in High Point, N.C. They will be taking the goods to the mountains,” said Vici Pate, with Fastenal customer support supply chain, of the North Carolina victims.
The public can drop off items at the Fastenal branch in Danville from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 1301 E. Voorhees St.
Needed items for donation: (all items unopened and new please) sports drinks (powdered packets); plastic utensils; trash bags (13 gal or contractor bags); paper towels; water; non-perishable foods; cleaning supplies; plastic sheeting/tarps and ropes; toothbrushes and toothpaste; pet food (dog & cat); hand sanitizer and sanitizer wipes; heavy-duty work gloves; socks – all sizes (unopened); nitrile gloves; baby wipes and diapers (children & adults); and baby formula.
Pate said they send out shipments daily and will send out full pallets as they get them.
“We have 13 distribution centers across the United States. The items will ship through via our logistics team leaving Danville and heading toward our closest and biggest distribution center in Indianapolis. From there the items will make their way down to High Point, N.C.,” she said.
She said they just started collecting items. They have some customers who want to help and know there are a lot of other people who would like to help as well. They’re coordinating everything.
Pate added, “Fastenal, as a company, has previously helped with natural disasters and emergencies. Our distribution centers regularly collect and ship items to areas hit by natural disasters. Both our customers and employees have previously helped in the past.
The Danville Fastenal has eight employees currently. Fastenal is a local and global industrial and construction supply company. Fastenal has 3,300 locations spanning across 25 countries, with about 23,000 employees.
Pate said they haven’t collected items in the past in Danville but would like to do so more in the future to help those in need and affected by natural disasters.
