The Danville Police Department and Danville School District 118 are currently investigating a social media report of a school threat that led students to stay home for an E-learning day.
Danville Police Detectives located a social media address that was found to be initiated in the Chicago area from which the concerning posts were made. It’s reasonable to believe the subject who shared the posts and threat information is not in the City of Danville and believes it does not pose a direct threat. Through a threat assessment, the Danville Police Department believes the risk indicators in this incident are low and noncredible. There have been no direct engaging threats that are believed valid.
The Danville Police Department will continue to investigate and follow up on this incident. DPD and District 118 will work in partnership diligently to reduce the incident and fear of crime while ensuring safety and security.

Schweizer Issues Statement Following Recent School Threat Made in Danville
DANVILLE, IL… State Representative Brandun Schweizer (R-Danville) issued the following statement regarding the recent threat made to Danville Community Consolidated School District 118, which resulted in a closed campus and e-learning day on October 2, 2024.
“I am aware of a threat that was made to Danville Community Schools that has caused school officials to declare today as an e-learning day. I am in contact with local authorities to assess the severity and credibility of this threat. I will continue to monitor developments and keep my constituents informed. I have all the confidence in our local authorities to handle the situation. I pray for the safety of our school children, teachers, staff, and administrators today and every day.”
