During the Tuesday (Oct 15th) evening Danville City Council meeting, the hiring of a consultant was approved to assist with coming up with a final strategy on the future of Danville’s three fire stations. The plan has been to eventually replace all three stations, to remodel them, or a combination of both. Danville Fire Chief Aaron Marcott says the work of the consultant should take about eight weeks, and the fire department already had the funds in their budget, with the contract with Veritas out of Indianapolis being capped at $40,000.
Meanwhile, Chief Marcott reminds us that the annual Danville Fire Department Memorial Service is set for this coming Saturday morning, October 19th.
AUDIO: Annually, we try to host a memorial service for the five guys that died in the line of duty in Danville. We’ll just have a short presentation; and salute them to our traditional ringing of the bell to honor them. The public is welcome to come out and witness it and see it. We think it’s important to pay respects to those that served before us, and lost their lives in paying the ultimate sacrifice.
Saturday morning’s ceremony, at Fire Station 3 on Griffin Street, is scheduled for 8:15 AM.
