THE FOLLOWING IS A VERMILION COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER RELEASE CONCERNING A SCAM
There have been multiple reports of individuals that have received a text from someone claiming to be an animal control officer who has found a missing pet. The number will then requests to send you a code.
Our Officers will never ask to send a code and very rarely do they send text messages.
If you are missing a pet, please visit the shelter to confirm if your animal is with us and if not, fill out a missing pet report. If your animal is microchipped, wearing a rabies tag or has some type of identification, we will contact you via phone call. All reclaims are completed at the shelter, unless an officer returns your animal in the field by identifying the animal via the info above.
