It has now been one complete season for new Custard Cup owner Andrew Seibert. Well, almost one season! Originally, Custard Cup was scheduled to close for the winter this Sunday, October 20th. But with next week’s forecast looking so good, Seibert says they are extending the season one week, until Sunday the 27th. Seibert says it was not a hard decision.
AUDIO: You know it’s going to be almost 80 on Monday; warm weather throughout the upcoming weekend. I got together with the management team and said “hey, let’s stay open one more week.” I think we would regret closing, and the sun’s shining, and people wanting some more custard.
Seibert says its has been a great first year for his team, and he appreciates the customers’ enthusiasm.
AUDIO: The community’s support has just been overwhelming. I don’t know if there’s anything major we’ve learned this first season; it’s just been a really great continuation of the 75 year tradition.
The tradition of Custard Cup’s “Scoops of Love” will continue next year as well, with a special charity being designated to receive a check every month. The final three honorees of 2024 are being presented checks this (Friday the 18th) evening.
AUDIO: It will be going to Crosspoint, for their domestic violence services; to the Danville Human Society; and also the Dwelling Place. It is our intention to continue the Scoops of Love. The community has been completely supportive of that, which is exciting. And we’re making a difference in the community, which is what we wanted to do.
All in all over $12,000 has gone from Custard Cup to local charities this year. This evening’s Scoops of Love check presentations will take place at 5 PM.
