DANVILLE — As those driving by have probably noticed on the North Vermilion Street site across from Walmart that saw construction halted when a proposed True Grit Fitness project moved to Tilton, new construction has started.
Longview Bank is proceeding with construction after working with the city of Danville.
Cam Pepper, Longview’s director of marketing, said the Danville bank branch should open in the spring of 2025.
“We’re in expansion mode,” Pepper said.
Longview opened a branch in Tilton earlier this year and is opening another one in Clinton.
It’s had 12 bank locations and a Danville loan office, by appointment only, off Henning Road.
Longview Capital Corporation is a three-bank holding company with a mission to serve the rural areas of central Illinois and West Central Indiana.
It’s the bank corporation’s belief that “the financial security of the residents of this highly productive agricultural area is an important part of the democratic form of government that we in America enjoy.”
Longview Bank has been serving central Illinois since 1899 with a wide range of banking, agricultural lending and mortgage services.
It’s committed to customer satisfaction and community involvement.
David Albin, chairman of Longview’s board, approached the Danville City Council last month about difficulties working with the city on the project.
A site visit was planned, and now the project is moving forward.
The bank will take about 25 percent of the former proposed fitness center building’s footprint.
Lighting also won’t be in the back toward the residences or will be pointed down, Albin said, adding that they’ll use the existing roadway off North Vermilion Street.
Drainage also is being addressed.
He added that the site will better meet the needs of northside customers.
