THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE AREA COMMUNITY COLLEGE RELEASE
DANVILLE, IL–Danville Area Community College will be electing three Trustees during the Apr. 1, 2025, election.
The College already had two Board seats due to expire next April. The third opening came when Dave Harby announced his retirement from the Board after more than 25 years of service. Harby’s unexpired term runs for four years. The other two open seats are for six-year terms.
The trustee election is open to residents within District 507, which consists of Vermilion County and parts of Champaign, Edgar, Ford, and Iroquois counties. To be on the ballot, aspiring candidates need to collect an election packet from DACC Board Secretary Kerri Thurman and obtain 50 signatures from eligible voters in District 507.
As Thurman says, “On the petition, there is a space for candidates to indicate whether they’re interested in running for the four-year term by placing a number four in the space. Otherwise, it’ll be assumed that they’re running for one of the two six-year terms.”
Thurman’s office is on the second floor of Vermilion Hall on the DACC Campus at 2000 East Main Street. The filing date for the petitions, at the same location, is from Nov. 12 – Nov. 18, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day. The candidate’s location on the ballot will be based on the order of filing, with the first to file being the first on the ballot.
Harby announced his retirement during the DACC Board meeting on Thurs., Oct. 24.
