With the filing period for the April 1, 2025 Consolidated Election having opened on Tuesday (November 12th), a familiar last name is showing some interest in two of next spring’s elections. Soon to be retired Danville Area Community College president Dr. Stephen Nacco; having reached a decision with the DACC Board of Trustees to retire December 13th, after the board placed him on administrative leave following a dispute with Danville’s Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr; has filed to run for a position himself on the DACC Board of Trustees.
Meanwhile, Dr. Nacco’s wife Cindy Nacco; who showed extreme anger towards Mayor Williams following the DACC Board’s September 16th decision placing her husband on leave; has pulled a petition showing consideration to run for a Ward 7 position on the Danville City Council. The final day to file petitions in next Monday, November 18th.
Also in the Danville City Council election, Ward 7 Alderman Darrin York will not be seeking reelection, as he will be moving into a different ward. An interim alderman could be appointed to replace York up to the April 1st election.
