Illinois health officials say 1,105 new COVID-19 cases were reported Sunday with 18 additional deaths. Cases have been reported in 47 counties with Bond, Knox, Menard and Montgomery the latest to report COVID-19. The state reports a total of 4,596 cases with 65 deaths. Of the most recent deaths, 11 were in Cook County, three were in Kane County and there was one death each in DuPage, Kendall, LaSalle and St. Clair.
Sangamon County reports one new case of COVID-19, increasing the total to 13 confirmed cases and one death. Three of the confirmed cases are currently hospitalized. The county health department reports Memorial Medical Center has eight inpatients under investigation while HSHS St. John’s Hospital has 17 inpatients under investigation.
Christian County health officials say 11 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at the Rolling Meadows Senior Apartments in Taylorville. The facility has been quarantined. The additions bring the total number of cases in Christian County to 13.
McLean County reports two new cases to increase its total to 13.
Governor JB Pritzker reported COVID-19 testing in Illinois has increased to about 4,000 per day and he expects that number to increase to 10,000 in the next few days. Pritzker said he is exploring the possibility of additional drive-thru testing sites. The Illinois National Guard is operating drive-thru sites in Harwood Heights near Chicago and in Bloomington.
