THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA RELEASE
Danville, IL, November 22, 2024 – The Danville Symphony Orchestra (DSO) continues its 2024-25 season with its annual holiday concert “Christmas at the Movies” in the Dick Van Dyke Auditorium.
On Sunday, December 8 at 2 pm, Maestro Matthew Sheppard will lead the DSO in an exciting, holiday movie concert featuring the classic animated film The Snowman with live orchestral accompaniment, as well as movie music selections from The Polar Express, Frozen, The Muppet Christmas Carol, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and other holiday favorites.
“We have a special treat for this concert: the DSO will perform the live orchestral accompaniment as the 1982 animated classic, The Snowman, plays on the big screen!” said Sheppard. “It will be a fabulous experience to hear that iconic music not just through the TV screen or your speakers, but from the live orchestra while you watch the film with hundreds of other audience members.”
“Christmas at the Movies” is made possible by the Julius W. Hegeler II Foundation. Tickets are still available for the Dec. 8 concert, with seats remaining on the main floor and balcony for $35 and $45. Students can buy tickets for $10.
Tickets may be purchased online at danvillesymphony.org. or by calling (217) 443-5300. Tickets are also available at the DSO office at 715 West Fairchild Street, Danville. Hours 1-5 pm, Monday through Friday.
