ABOVE: Matthew Long takes oath as the new Vermilion County Recorder of Deeds.
On the fourth floor of the Vermilion County Courthouse Monday (Dec 2nd) morning, five county office holders took the oath for new terms in office. Matthew Long, elected to the office of Recorder of Deeds on November 5th, and moving over from the Supervisor of Assessments position, said afterwards it was the end of a long road, and also a new beginning.
AUDIO: It kind of seems surreal that I actually have just gotten sworn in as the County Recorder. But I’m looking forward to it. I think the change will be good. I think after 14 years at the County Assessor’s office, that position was ready for a change I think.
Also taking oaths of office for new terms Monday morning at the Vermilion County Courthouse were (1st to 4th pictures) Auditor Erika Ramsey, Circuit Clerk Melissa Quick, Coroner Jane McFadden, and State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy.
