Once the Danville City Council gets past all the current tax levy and budget issues, what will be on tap for 2025? One person who wants a spot on the agenda right now is Seven Point of Illinois Cannabis Dispensary CEO Brad Zerman.
Prior to Seven Point’s opening at 380 Eastgate along Lynch Road last spring, Zerman had already asked about a consumption lounge being added someday. Speaking before Council members at the Public Works Committee meeting this past Tuesday (Dec 10th), Zerman said the time is right now. He says plenty of customers are already heading for Tilton’s Parkway Dispensary for their consumption lounge and special events that they host, and Zerman says that’s exactly what he wants to do.
When you enter Seven Point’s lobby, the dispensary is on the left. But to the right is an open space that’s currently used twice a month on Saturdays for a farmer’s market. Zerman says he wants to put a stage in for open mic and live band events that would happen inside the lounge. The lounge would have the age restriction of 21 and over only, plus free usage of various available devices.
Brad Zerman, Seven Point of Illinois CEO, addressed City Council personnel Tuesday about future plans including a consumption lounge with activities on stage.
AUDIO: Instead of just promoting cannabis deals and what not, we could promote real activities that the people of Danville could participate in. The lounge would be a very safe place for people to smoke. They would have to buy the cannabis from our store, to ensure that it’s of highest quality and lab tested. And then, people would be able to use various devices in the facilty.
Zerman says he also sees this consumption lounge as a place to get some food.
AUDIO: We have a back door to the lounge that’s right next to our parking lot. And food trucks could actually bring the food into our space for people that could do online ordering. We think that’s super unique, to offer a place where people can eat from a food truck.
Zerman is hoping to bring this before the Danville Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council sometime in January.
