GEORGETOWN — A sting operation by the Paxton Police Department targeting online child predators has led to the firing and arrest of a Danville firefighter.
The Danville Fire Department was made aware by Danville police Monday that probationary employee Dean Lambert, 28, of rural Georgetown was under investigation. He was placed on administrative leave while an internal investigation was conducted and was fired Tuesday.
He was then arrested on charges of indecent solicitation of a child and sexual exploitation of a child.
Police also executed search warrants at his home and in Danville on Monday with assistance from the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department.
The charges stem from an investigation by Paxton police, who said one of their undercover officers posed as a 15-year-old girl online and arranged to meet with Lambert.
