THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On Sunday evening 1/5/2025 around 4:30 p.m. Danville Police Officers responded to the 900 block of Martin Street to investigate shots being fired. Subjects were witnessed in the area running after the shots were fired.
DPD Officers investigated the scene and, with the help of the community and the weather, tracked a suspect to a residence within a two-block radius of the shooting scene. With the assistance of the Vermilion County State’s Attorney’s Office, Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence.
Officers arrested 19-year-old Alvin L Daniels of Danville at that residence and recovered a firearm. Daniels was taken to the Vermilion County Public Safety Building and booked on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Obstructing/Resisting a Peace Officer.
The Danville Police Department reminds the public that an arrest is an accusation and all subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
