SPRINGFIELD, IL… Today, State Representative Brandun Schweizer (R-Danville) was sworn into the 104th General Assembly to represent the 104th House District. Rep. Schweizer’s district includes portions of Vermilion and Champaign counties in east-central Illinois. Rep. Schweizer has served the district since December 2023, following his appointment to fill the vacancy of retiring Rep. Mike Marron, but this marks the first time he has taken the oath of office.
“It is a privilege to continue to serve the people of the 104th District,” said Rep. Schweizer. “I am committed to continuing to work towards making Illinois a safe and desirable place where families want to put down roots. Being a father to three young boys is paramount to my decision to continue to serve Illinois and stay dedicated to unraveling the harmful, misplaced priorities that have afflicted Illinois for far too long.”
Rep. Schweizer continues to bring a wealth of knowledge and experience into the General Assembly as a career public servant. During his time in the House, Rep. Schweizer has worked with bipartisan, bicameral legislators on issues like veterans’ affairs, protecting the Mahomet Aquifer, and supporting first responders.
In the 103rd General Assembly, Rep. Schweizer was appointed to serve on the following committees: Energy and Environment, Ethics and Elections, Gaming, Immigration and Human Rights, and Appropriations- Higher Education. Committee assignments for the 104th GA will be made in the coming weeks.
Prior to being a state representative, Rep. Schweizer served 21 years in the United States Marine Corps, retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant, and working as a Recruiter, Intelligence Analyst, and Equal Opportunity Advisor. Following his retirement from the USMC, Rep. Schweizer continued his public service working for the City of Danville, as a Code Enforcement Officer, until the time of his appointment as State Representative.
Rep. Schweizer and his wife are also business owners, operating Tiny Troops Soccer, a soccer program that engages young children living on military bases teaching them the fundamentals of the sport. Established in Okinawa, Japan during one of Rep. Schweizer’s deployments and now running out of their home city of Danville, the business currently runs on nearly 50 military installations in 17 states and three counties.
